Cross Country Alberta is advertising for coaching positions to fill the coaching staff requirements for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
Cross Country Alberta is seeking:
-2 coaches (1 male and 1 female) - minimum NCCP Level 3 or NCCP Competition Coach Development Trained Status
-1 Para Nordic Coach - same qualifications as above
-1 Wax Technician - NCCP levels an asset

Planning for the 2014-15 ski season is well underway! Cross Country Alberta is planning to once again hold 8 Alberta Cups over 4 weekends, and we need clubs to host these events. We are inviting Alberta clubs to consider hosting an Alberta Cup event for the 2014-15 season.

Over 500 years ago, a small but elite group of mercenaries from the Nordic and Alpine regions of Europe held an outlaw competition to test each other in the skills of skiing military patrol in the exciting stadium ski race format known as Stadio-Brawla Nordica.(Nordic Stadium Brawl)
The annual championship was called La Coppa (The Cup). For decades it was the most prestigious sporting event in Europe. However, in 1806, the competition was halted amid controversy, all records erased and never spoken of again.

The National Talent Squad program identifies approximately 20 young athletes both male and female between the age of 15 and 18 as future Training Centre athletes. The program is coordinated by CCC but delivered by the four National Development Centres (NDC's) across Canada. The goal of the National Talent Squad (NTS) program is to help prepare athletes for a training centre in the future. By working with the NDC's, they will gain the skills and knowledge required for a more seamless transition into a training centre within the coming years.

It's been a busy week for skiing in schools:
Cross Country Alberta brought some skiing to the inner city of Edmonton students at Beacon Heights Elementary School.
Ski Fit North Alberta, in partnership with Kikino School, hosted a Ski Day Festival which involved four schools. Special guest Beckie Scott, two time Olympic medalist, was there as well to ski with the students.
