The camp, run by the Alberta World Cup Academy in their new role as the operators of the Alberta Ski Team, was a huge success. Young skiers got the chance to work with many Academy stars like Graham Nisikawa and Brittany Webster and others, doing lots of rollerski video work and sprint simulations, all in an effort to teach these up-and-comers the nuances and agility skills required to be a competitive sprinter in today's ever-more-aggressive style of racing. | | |  | Posted Tuesday, August 24, 2010 By: Cross Country Canada The Alberta Ski Team (AST) Sprint Camp concluded Sunday morning at the Canmore Nordic Centre with a hard fought sprint race after four days of solid training. This is the first AST camp run by the Alberta World Cup Academy (AWCA) in partnership with Cross Country Alberta (CCA). | | |  | Posted Wednesday, August 11, 2010 Cross-country skier Brian McKeever, one of Canada's most decorated Paralympians of all-time, will team up with the Foundation Fighting Blindness this fall for a unique running event to raise funding and awareness in the pursuit of a cure for inherited forms of blindness.
McKeever will headline a field of 500 runners who will lace up their running shoes for the Run for Sight, a 5km run/walk event to be held at noon-hour in downtown Calgary on Thursday, September 16th. |

The two-time Olympian and three-time World Cup medalist will be teaming up with the Share The Road Cycling Coalition to host a community bike ride in Canmore to promote safe cycling and highlight the important benefits of creating bicycle-friendly communities across Canada. The 20-kilometre community ride will start and finish at the Civic Centre Plaza in downtown Canmore and will be open to cyclists of all ages and abilities. |
