Provincial Coaching Experience

Cross Country Alberta is currently looking for AB Coaches whom are interested in gaining valuable provincial coaching experience. Camps and Trips will be supported by a combination of qualified coaches appointed by CCA and Provincial Coach experienced coaches.
Coach development is important to CCA, increasing the skill set of coaches across the province will help to improve the athlete experience in

programs of any level. Each camp will provide opportunities for developing coaches to gain experience by observing and assisting experienced coaches along with organizing and facilitating training sessions at a Provincial Team camps or international/national competitions. Coaches in the NCCP system can use these assignments as part of their “practical” training towards CCI Advanced certification.
In April 2018 CCA will put out an ‘Expression of interest’ for each camp to give coaches around the province an opportunity to apply. Any qualified coaches residing in AB can apply by completing the PCE Assignment Application Form. Selected coaches will be contacted by CCA

NCI Advanced Coaching Diploma

The National Coaching Institute Advanced Coaching Diploma is the pinnacle of a coaches’ education in the National Coaching Certification Program. NCI coaches are recognized as being among the most qualified coaches and leaders of athletes and sport programs provincially, nationally and internationally.

The Diploma consists of four core themes; Coaching Leadership, Coaching Effectiveness, Performance Planning, and Training and Competition Readiness. Each theme requires coaches to complete a series of modules comprised of several 3 hour units of in-classroom sessions, seminars, workshops or labs. Coaches will be evaluated in each module based on their ability to demonstrate competency coaching developing athletes. Coaches enrolled in the diploma program will work with a designated master and/or mentor coach who will support them in their completion of program requirements. The diploma program requires a mid-point and final assessment by a panel of content specialists. The Diploma is one step towards the certification in the Competition-Development Advanced Gradation context. To complete his/her certification, the coach must contact his/her NSO to apply for the sport-specific evaluation.

High Performance Coaching Experience

The High Performance Coaching Experience (HPCE) program offers developing coaches a variety of practical training opportunities that can be delivered through the National Development Centres (NDC) and the NST programs. As initiated last year, coaches selected for this program will again benefit from a wide range of opportunities like attending NST or NDC training camps, regular home base training sessions for up to a week long period and domestic or international race trips as well.

Coaching Seminars

Cross Country Canada (CCC) and its national partners (e.g. Sport-Canada, Coaching Association of Canada, Own The Podium, etc) offer seminars and conferences with various core themes on a yearly basis to coaches of all levels. CCC divisions (provinces and territories) do likewise. Together, these national and provincial/territorial organizations therefore provide coaches with professional development opportunities that are an essential complement to the National Coaching Certification Program available to coaches.
